Extra Curricula Activities

At Ballarat North Primary School, we offer a broad range of extra curricula activities to ensure an engaging curriculum where students have the opportunity to explore areas of interest and build on their talents.

Sport

Every year there are many sporting opportunities available to students. The school conducts its own Athletics and Cross Country events which offer a family friendly focus and encourage active participation. Senior students who perform well at the school level are able to represent Ballarat North Primary School at a district, regional and state level in athletics, cross country, golf, tennis, soccer, football, netball and basketball.

Clubs

A clubs program is offered at lunchtimes to engage, motivate and actively involve students in purposeful activities as an alternative to yard play.

Each club is different and is run by teachers and education support staff. Some specific examples include lego, reading, arts and craft, board games, juggling and coding.

Camps and Excursions

At all grade levels, students participate in a range of incursions and excursions to support work completed in the classroom and to further extend their learning. This includes visits to Donegan’s Farm, Sovereign Hill, the Melbourne Zoo, Scienceworks and the Earth Ed Centre in Ballarat.

The school’s camping program begins in Grade 4, with students attending a three day bush camp at Cave Hill Creek. This camp features a variety of experiences including hut building, archery, bush cooking and a low ropes course.

In Grade 5, students are involved in a two day program at Sovereign Hill where they dress in period costume and experience life in the 1850s.

In Grade 6, students have the opportunity to attend a three day urban camp in Melbourne. During the camp, they visit many places of interest including Etihad Stadium, the Melbourne Star, Parliament House and the Victoria Market.

Ballarat North Primary School acknowledges the Wadawurrung People as the traditional custodians of the land upon which our school sits.
We pay our respects to all Aboriginal people, their culture and their elders: past, present, future and emerging.
